An official letter, read, translated and explained in plain language.

An illustration of the Klaruna app on a phone: a scanned document has been recognised, the important amounts are listed, and the next steps name a payment deadline.
Illustration of the app — not a screenshot.
Overview

What it is

Klaruna photographs a letter from an authority, reads the text out of the picture and returns a translation plus an explanation in plain language — deadlines, amounts and the points that need an answer are collected separately, and on Android and iOS the documents stay on the device. In development, not yet released.

Draft — wording not yet approved

Features

What works today

  • Capture the letter

Camera, gallery or a PDF — the app takes all three and checks the quality of the picture before it starts reading.

  • Text recognition

The letter is turned into text by Google Cloud Vision. The recognition runs on a server, not on the phone.

  • Translation and plain language

A translation plus an explanation in plain language, from Claude or Gemini — written to be understood, not to replace anyone's assessment.

  • What the letter asks

Deadlines, amounts and the points that need an answer are pulled out of the text and shown on their own, so nothing has to be searched for in the letter.

  • Your own documents

Recognised letters are stored locally on Android and iOS, can be exported as PDF or text and can be deleted again. In the web build they live in memory only and are gone after a reload.

Flow

The core flow

  1. Photograph

Take a picture of the letter, pick one from the gallery, or open a PDF.

  2. Read

The text is recognised and returned in a legible form.

  3. Explain

A translation and an explanation in plain language.

  4. Act

Deadlines, amounts and the points that need an answer, collected separately.

Where it stands

What exists, and what does not

Two lists, in the app's own state. The second one is not optional.

Not finished yet

  • No release: Klaruna is not in the App Store or on Google Play.
  • There is no release key and no store metadata. The release build is deliberately made to fail.
  • The purchase path is built but not proven: the billing migration has not been applied to the cloud and no purchase has been completed.
  • The app has not been run on a physical device.
  • Only German, English and Arabic in the interface — not the eight languages the product plan once named.
  • The web build still carries the Flutter template's metadata.
  • On the web, stored documents are kept in memory and lost on reload.
  • The rights status of the onboarding images is unresolved according to the project itself.
  • There is no privacy policy and no way to delete an account.
Note

Worth knowing

Klaruna explains a letter; it does not advise you. It is not legal advice and does not replace a lawyer or a counselling centre. For the text recognition the letter leaves the device and is processed on a server — only the finished documents are stored locally.
